Kayla Lemen-Conklin is a community-connector who believes that meaningful communities are built by creating spaces for people to gather, exchange ideas, and learn from one another. At the Center for Global Engagement, she directs the events and communications initiatives.
Her professional background spans events and program design, marketing, and communications. Before joining the University of Richmond, Kayla coordinated 500 annual therapeutic arts programs and events for older adults and caregivers. She is passionate about bridging multi-cultural communities and telling their stories through events and the art of communications and marketing.
Kayla earned a master’s degree in art history from American University and a bachelor’s degree in art history and anthropology from the University of Maryland. Her academic work focused on contemporary American art, particularly the art, activism, and culture of care that emerged from the HIV/AIDS epidemic of the 1980s.
