Faculty Fellow
Our connection with faculty members is a vital part of our approach to global engagement. We started our Global Engagement Faculty Fellow program as a way to deepen our connection to Richmond faculty, especially those who are champions of internationalization on campus.
Faculty Fellows use their expertise to advise on office initiatives, build relationships across campus, and strengthen existing programming to benefit student scholarship. Anthony Russell, our first faculty fellow, recruited faculty members to become involved with Fulbright advising and interview panels, prior to the hand-off to the Office of Scholars and Fellowships. Subsequent Fellows have championed belonging among UR's international community, connected UR to the reporting of important global news topics, and incorporated sustainability into discussions of global engagement, among other projects.
Kristine Grayson, Associate Professor of Biology, is serving her second year as fellow in partnership with Global Engagement. Kristine brings abundant experience teaching and conducting research in Aotearoa New Zealand. She was an important partner in the planning and implementation of IE Week 2022. Last year she led an FLC focusing on Costa Rica in support of IE Week 2024, and she serves as a mentor to students participating in the Green Spiders Abroad program. Kristine actively supports global engagement through these and other professional relationships.
